Baseball Divisions

Carson City Little League offers seven different divisions to help kids progress their baseball skills based on age and abilities.

At the end of the Spring season, players from AA, AAA, Majors, and Junior/Senior Divisions are eligible for selection to All Stars teams for continued competitive play. Please visit our All Stars page for more information.

Tee Ball Division

Tee Ball

League Ages 4 – 6

The Tee Ball Division is often a child’s introduction to baseball. The tee ball experience is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals while also being a key to growing a child’s love for the game. Prior to playing at the next level, kids need a year of tee ball to develop their skills.

Coach Pitch Division

Coach Pitch

League Ages 6 – 7

Upon successful completion of a season of tee ball, kids move into the Coach Pitch Division. This is the first of two coach pitch divisions and is played on the tee ball fields. After a set number of missed pitches, kids get an opportunity to finish their at-bat on the tee. The goal of this division is to begin teaching the kids the positions and developing their live pitch hitting.

Single A Division

Minor A

League Ages 7 – 9

Minor A division is the second coach pitch division. This division introduces kids to the little league sized fields, the use of a hardball, and the tee is no longer an option upon missing the ball. Skills are further developed in the field and at bat.

The game starts to resemble real baseball. Innings are three (3) outs or four (4) runs scored to retire the side, whichever comes first. This division is still instructional only and records are not kept.

Double A Division

Minor AA

League Ages 8 – 10

Minor AA division is the first “Upper Division”. Upper division kids tryout for placement to a team. Kids are drafted by coaches to teams. Undrafted kids at the AA level are placed on a Single A team for the season for further development. AA games are real baseball games, with minimal coach interaction on the field. Kids are exposed to pitching for the first time and batters are exposed to kids pitching for the first time. There are walks and strikeouts, pitch counts, steals, and everything else that makes baseball fun.

Triple A Division

Minor AAA

League Ages 9 – 11

Minor AAA division is the second of three Upper Divisions. Kids drafted to a team at this level are making bigger throws, hitting harder, and facing better pitching and competition. Scores are recorded at this level and teams participate in an end of year city tournament. Kids who play in AAA are eligible for post-season teams (All-Stars, Renegades, and Hooligans).

Majors Division

Majors

League Ages 11 – 12

This is the traditional Little League Division for the oldest kids in the league. All 12 year olds, regardless of skill, are drafted to a majors team. This division is the best competition kids will face in Little League. Pitching, hitting, and fielding are very developed in this division. Teams participate in an end of year Carson City tournament. Kids in Majors are eligible for post-season teams (All-Stars and Hooligans).

Juniors Seniors Division

Juniors & Seniors

Juniors: League Ages 13 - 14
Seniors: League Ages 15 - 16

The Juniors/Seniors Division is for the kids who are ready for the traditional size baseball field with 90ft base paths and 60ft mounds. Leading off, dropped third strikes, and every other baseball rule is in effect in our Juniors/Seniors Division. This Division is meant to give kids options to continue playing baseball after Little League.
