Required Trainings

Ensuring the safety of our players is the most important thing we do an an organization.

Managers, Coaches, On-Field Assistants, and Scorekeepers

Below is the list of trainings required for all managers, coaches, and on-field assistants who interact directly with the kids. These trainings must be renewed every year.

  1. Background Check

Background checks must be completed annually on all new and returning individuals before the individual starts his/her duties for the season. The safety and well-being of all participants in the Little League® program is paramount. All volunteers and positions with access to the players are required to complete a background check (coaches and helpers at practices, umpires, scorekeepers, board members, etc.)

  2. Little League® Abuse Awareness Training

Managers, coaches, and on-field assistants must be able to identify signs of abuse and understand how to report incidents. To take this mandatory and free training, you must first register for a free account with Little League® Training. Next, enroll for and complete the Abuse Awareness Training course.

  3. HEADS UP Concussion Training

Managers, coaches, and on-field assistants must be able to recognize signs of concussion you might observe during a practice or game. To take this mandatory and free training, you must first register for a free account with the CDC. Next, take the training for the HEADS UP to Youth Sports Coaches: Online Concussion Training course.

  4. Little League Diamond Leadership Training

All volunteers--managers, coaches, on-field assistants, scorekeepers, umpires, and snack bar--are required to take this training. The Diamond Leader training program is a free educational resource that provides volunteers with an understanding of the impact that mental, social, and emotional well-being has in youth sports. To take this mandatory and free training, you must first register for a free account with Little League® Training. Next, enroll for and complete The Diamond Leader course.

Volunteers are only required to complete the Diamond Leader program once. Your certificate from a prior season is still valid.
